Before you start
Bring your own example and an account for the tool, where needed. These lessons are free to read; external tools may charge or limit access. Use non-sensitive material that you have permission to share. Menu labels and features can change.
Follow the steps
- Import a short video with clear speech into CapCut. Listen once and note names, numbers and specialist terms.
- Find Captions or Auto captions, choose the spoken language and generate captions. Labels and access may vary by platform and plan.
- Correct the transcript and timing manually. Break long lines into short readable phrases and avoid covering faces or important objects.
- Export a test and watch it on your phone with sound off. Check text size, contrast and whether captions are cropped.
Your copy-and-use prompt
Replace the bracketed fields with your own details.
Proofread this video transcript for spelling and punctuation: [transcript]. Preserve the speaker’s meaning. Flag uncertain names and numbers instead of guessing. Return corrected text plus a list of items I must verify against the audio.
Try it yourself
Caption a 20-second introduction and correct at least one proper name by listening to the recording.
Check your result
Verify captions against the actual audio; an AI proofreader cannot hear the source unless you provide it.
